Gauging the impact of renewable interventions on people, place and mobility

Around 95% of all UK international trade is transported via ports and, globally, the shipping industry produces a significant proportion of greenhouse gases, including up to 15% of nitrous oxide, nearly 4% of carbon dioxide and up to 6% of sulphur oxides. Emission levels are especially important at ports. Nearby cities are often densely populated, with the potential for air pollution to have a negative impact on the health of residents. Our EVA smart solution has been developed to help busy ports achieve net-zero by implementing sustainable energy and air quality monitoring devices.

How does EVA work?

Our sensors and software generate a system’s operational baseline of energy demand, consumption, and pollution. We furnish the operator with:

  • Energy systems’ capacity planning and alerting
  • Vessel real-time propulsion information and demand profiling
  • Air quality reported as standardised metrics

We specialise in IoT sensing. We develop smart solutions to data-driven problems from concept to product. Our portfolio consists of three sensor platforms, each optimised for context:

  • Jellyfish - high-volume, battery-powered, low-cost utility monitoring
  • Man o’War - custom interfacing for mid-volume, specialised sensing
  • AQM - controlled environment and customised sensing for high resolution data

Our software manages and processes the data to satisfy operational, reporting and system optimisation:

  • Human centric designed operational dashboard
  • Trust-based energy provenance and consumption blockchain
  • Deep learning of System and its optimisation ANN (artificial neural network)

Energy Availability

Energy Availability

Jellyfish Bridge is distributed across the microgrid to deliver realtime energy data for audit and billing reconciliation, LoRaWAN is used for passing pre-encrypted datagrams across the port operating area.

Air Quality Monitoring

Air Quality Monitoring

Jellyfish powers multiple sensors to generate realtime data in DeFRA approved metrics. NB-loT is used for higher resolution data in an externally powered system.

Battery Demand

Battery Demand

Man o’War passively and securely interfaces to engine management system, transmitting realtime battery charge to the Shore Power system.

Sigfox is used for its battery autonomy and uninterrupted port-to-port connectivity across Channel, Biscay and North Sea.

PROG Software

PROG Software

PROG software aggregates multiple data points and makes available over API to Port Operations and R&D teams.

A unique dashboard is powered by blockchain and Al technologies to ensure information is clearly understood and clearly traceable.

Advancing crop protection with high resolution sensors

Our solution opens new perspectives to farmers to address the challenges that are leading them to face decreasing incomes. According to the World Research Institute, the earth’s population will reach nearly 10 billion by 2050 - about 3 billion more mouths to feed than in 2010. To feed this increased population sustainably, the Institute has identified three gaps that must be closed.

Jellyfish connects people to their water consumption for positive environmental, commercial and regulatory outcomes.

Jellyfish up-cycles existing water meters into connected assets at a fraction of the cost to replace, and, zero landfill. Battery powered for over fifteen years, Jellyfish’s low-powered wide-area network technology overcomes underground connectivity that thwarts 4G, 5G and WiFi.
